Reviews:

starsReliable, has many features, and is a solid performer
It made install the last software packages and the protocols without wire, and sequence-based configuration interfaces it organized well pages of the options of installation. The pages of assistance are really useful. As with any device of network management it is good to be little familiar with TCP/IP thus you can handle minor troubles as to give to your computer a provisional static IP address in the same range of under-net that the DWL-7100AP thus can communicate to you with him during the configuration (this is explained handbook). Afterwards, I could again change my computer with the dynamic IP addressing, and always reaches the pages of configuration of the DWL-7100AP. That will just function the fine line out of the box with arrangements of defect, but as with does not import which access point without wire, a better safety can be had by creating your own name of SSID, neutralizing the emission of the SSID, changing the identification of the user of defect and the password, with the assistance of the filtering IMPER of kind that only your computers are accepted by the access point, and allowing the figuring of data. The DWL-7100AP enables you to employ two kinds of figuring of WPA, which is blocked much more than WEP. I strongly recommend this product and well one writes the handbook to him. Some users pay to make frequently release their connection. I noted that the interference of the portable telephones of 2.4 gigahertz in my house was the culprit for the connections given up on the tape 802.11g, which is in the same frequency band as the telephones. Since I was commutated with the band 802.11a (5 gigahertz) very seldom dropped from connections of the DWL-7100AP.

starsA disaster
It is probably the device without the most terrible wire which I bought up to now. Not only it reloads all the few hours, but it drops from the packages ata terrifying rate. Looking at the stat, it indicates that it has only one rate success of transmission of 20%... that my devices without wire are in the same room! The only positive one is when that functions, it runs media without so much hoquet.

starsgood performance
I use two of these on the 11a band as bridges between two wired networks. They are 30 feet apart and can see each other down a hallway with obstructions that nearly block the line of sight from both sides. I have both set on quarter power. The status indicates no errors on either direction.

The manual that came with the equipment leaves a lot to be desired. For instance, it did not say that WAP-PSK TKIP mode is not available for bridges, just access points.

starsDWL-7100 AP as an AP Client is terrible
I'm not sure how the 7100 is supposed to work as a repeater but as an AP Client linked with the DI-784 it simply won't stay connected. I'm running the latest firmware on both devices,DWL-7100ap is running v2.00 and teh DI-784 is running v2.38. I've tried multiple configs for the encryption, different radio channels while the 2 devices are only sitting 2ft apart and it still won't keep a connection.

Tech support isn't helpful either, long hold times and operators that don't actually listen to the problem.

I can't reccomend this product, I think one star is still too many stars.

starsReplaced a LinkSys 802.11a+b access point
I improved of a chart of NCV of LinkSys 802.11a G in the computer of my daughter to a chart of DLink 802.11a G At this time, I had an access point of LinkSys 802.11a B. The strenght of signal jumped very of bottom to the good. I believe that it is due to the design of antenna of the chart of NCV of DLink. It is separated from the chart with circuits and is connected to a cable 6'. This allows the placement of the antenna on a bin of office of computer instead of on the back of the computer which can be on the floor. I thought that if I improved the access point to DLink I would see another jump in the strenght of signal. I also wanted to take the standard 802.11g that my access point of LinkSys missed. The levelling of the access point of LinkSys to DLink did not provide any noticable improvement quality of signal. The strenght of signal to the chart of NCV of DLink was always only good. I obtained 802.11g which helps with the portable computer of businesses that I have but I hoped for a strenght a little better signal which was not found. The software package on the access point was old and I had to download and apply an update. I did not have any problem to do this but have much experiment since I control a network with work with more than 200 access points 802.11b (symbol

starsbad firmware worse technical support
The product was transported with the defective software packages which causes it to reload all few minutes. You leads insane when you review because your navigator will close with key upwards. Dlink has a difficulty of software package which you can find on their Web site, but when you download it will not be able to install it in the WAP. Worse still, when you STILL visit their Web site and seek the instructions, they are erroneous! The instructions indicate to you that you MUST employ a cable of crossing [ purchase it without reimbusement ] when you call the technical support, you must penetrate on the 4th level before you can obtain the truth. There you will learn that a cable of crossing is not necessary. However, if you proceed without him you can empty your warrantee. It is a company which is badly controlled and does not deserve your business, embarking a known and nonable defective product to say to you how to fix it without runing the risk of desrtroying it. The antennas are not removeable, thus do not hope to use an external antenna of profit with it.
