Lodge Enamel on Cast Iron 7 Quart Dutch Oven, Apple Green
Reviews:

starsGreat Value
I orderd this piece and was told it would take 4-6 wks for delivery but it arrived 5 days later and that was with free super saving shipping. I've used it 4 times already and it was everything I was hoping for and more. I saved over $100 buying here instead of from Lodge's website and it was shipped for free. I don't know how Amazon does it but THANK YOU!!

starsShame on Lodge or Amazon?
I waited with interest thus to receive this 7 quarters. Dutch furnace. Which disappointment. It is OBVIOUSLY one IN THE SECOND PLACE, not the first quality. The bottom is not completely of level, there is a pin piece of size of hole on the interior, the lid is not assembled to all the matter of not that the manner it is turned. I do not pay to embark it behind for the exchange because the chances are me only would be transported another second. Instead of that, I WILL NOT ORDER ANYTHING ELSE "ENAMEL of CABIN" MARKED Of the AMAZON. Yes, the price was a handsome price. But obviously there is no quality control on this particular product since there is no possibility that the lid on this pot could not have passed. If the Amazon sells seconds or thirdly, THEY SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO DECLARE THAT a PRODUCT EAST A IN THE SECOND PLACE OR THIRD

starsDisappointed with this product
Being on the market for 7 quarters enamels cast iron the Dutch iron furnace, 7 quarters. The cabin seemed to have the right substance with 4 coats of enamel, substantial weight, aspect attracting and some economies. However, when it arrived I was very disappointed by quality. As others criticize noted, the bottom was not flat and the pot would really rock on the top of furnace. There were 3 defects of hole of pin in interior enamel having for result the exposure of naked metal. In a esthetic way, the external enamel was unequal. Would these exits carry out to make cook capacities? Perhaps not, but apears of this product to being of the cheap Chinese strike-with far. Thus, I returned this article $165 (of the prices of the Amazon) and left bought the $250, 71/4 quarter. The Crucible with a local retailer - note that this variation of the prices is $85, not $100 or "double" the price as indicated in some reviews. And the Crucible is perfect.

starswonderful
I had been wanting an enameled cast iron dutch oven for a long time but with the high cost I had put it off. I thought the cost of this was reasonalbe for the large size (7 quart) so I bought it. It is very nice, a good size, and well constructed. The handles on the side are a bit small but I can deal with that. Go ahead and get this, I don't think you will be disappointed.

starsNice pot, great price
I have used this pot several times now. It looks good, works well and is a lot less expensive then other enameled cast iron pots.

starsVery Happy with the 7qt Dutch Oven
I have both the red and blue 7-qt dutch ovens and couldn't be happier. They cook evenly and hold their heat extremely well. They are quite heavy when full, but that's to be expected from cast iron. Considering the difference in cost, I would definitely purchase other Lodge products over the French. Would love to see more enameled products.

starsFinally, enameled cast-iron for the common cook!

starsLodge Enamel
Good product. I hope Lodge will expand their line in the future. I will buy more.

starsAs Advertised
$300 to France, or $100 to China? It's cast iron with an enamel coating! It's not a high tech item!
This is the second Lodge Dutch oven I have bought. I know there are complaints about quality issues, but I have had none. My 5 and 7 quart pots have become the work horses of my kitchen.

starsLodge 7 Quart Cast Iron Dutch Oven
Until finding the Lodge Dutch Oven I was almost suckered into dropping over $250 for the LeCreuset one. This oven was $100 with free shipping! THIS DEAL IS A NO BRAINER!!! It's heavy, well enameled and the handle is bolted through the lid, not tack welded. I used it the same night it arrived and it was a joy to cook with! For you unfortunate cooks who spent $300 for the "pinky-up" brand you have my sympathies, for the ones looking for a good affordable 7 Qt. cast iron enamel Dutch Oven...BUY IT!

starsEnamel chipped off after 2nd use
Was really happy with the price savings over the Creuset brand, and was very eager to use. However, after 2nd use, a 3" x 2" section of enamel chipped off the inside bottom, ruining my potroast... Horribly disappointed, because I love all of my other cast iron cookware. Won't be buying this brand again...

starsGreat Pot 4.5 stars
The FYI if you buy this for NYTimes no mix the bread receipt: it is a little large in spite of the recommendation of a pot 6-8qt. The bread proves a little large and the apartment, but to always astound. Half resounded one to hold the first role because there are couples of small hot points on the bottom, but for the price, compared much with the Crucible. Moreover beautiful with the handle which can handle heat.

starsLove it!
I haven't had this for very long, but I'm impressed by its sturdiness and utility. I've made braises and soups in it and love its ability to go from cooktop to oven. Considering that it costs much less than Le Crueset, this is a great deal.

starsI love this pot!
I really enjoy cooking in this pot. It has lots of space and is great for all kinds of dishes. The enamel surface is wonderful. I love to cook a dish in the pot and serve from it at the table when its just the family. The only drawback is how heavy the pot is, but that doesn't change the fact this is my favorite and now most used pot in my kitchen!

starsTender and Moist
I fell in love with my cookware from cast iron iron! If you can handle the weight of the units, the results are worth the sorrow the excercise. I made cook the receipts of roasts and pot of my family with exceptional results. The meat was to tend more and juicy that once cooked in my sets of not-stick. Clean was a breeze. The weight is considerable and the side handles could be larger. Such are the only reasons which I did not allot five holds the first role. Take care to buy the pot(not enamels the facility punt of cast iron iron)for of the cleaning and need not for seasoning. While placing order, buy some silicone ustensils in order not to notch enamel. I found the supports of silicone pot easy to also employ. The 7 quarters are extremely large and perfect for heavier meals. I also bought Mario Battaglia the pot enamels 6 per quarters which is equal while making cook results with the cabin.

starsLove It!
Fact of cooking great..cleans easily! I employed the really expensive substance and it is not better than the cabin. Why pay more than $200 the same pot of size? You would pay just the French name of imagination!

starsGreat pot with attractive looks
I looked at to acquire enamel a cast iron iron pot with which I could employ to make cook and soups. I did not want to pay $300 the pot of the Crucible of 7 quarters, thus I decided to go with the cabin. Good kitchen - I made several and the pot roasts, all marvellous sample. My method is as follows: I browned the meat and then adds vegetables. I make cook the mixture for 3 a.m. (or more) with very low heat before adding the seasoning. The meat is always tender and falling the bone. The dishes also has rich savour. Easy cleaning - it is very easy to clean the pot because of the enamel coating. I also have a cast iron iron pot (no enamel coating), and he is crafty one to clean without damaging the layer of pre-seasoning on the pot. Good glances - I really like the glances of the pot, particularly the contacts nice with the handles. Up to now the pot carried well and I would strongly recommend it.

starsGreat value, but durable and quality performer
Like many others who bought this item, I was initially interested in a Le Creuset dutch oven, but was turned off by the price. I purchased this item several months ago, and with the $25 rebate on an already low price of $130 and free super saver shipping, it was a steal.

I have been impressed with the quality of the pot and lid. The enamel finish has been durable so far, and extremely easy to clean. The basting spikes and attractive handle on the lid are nice touches.

starsI love my enamel dutch oven
I absolutely love the Lodge Enamel Dutch Oven. It looks beautiful, I leave it out on my counter every day. It cooks everything evenly and cleans so easily. I would recommend this product to anyone that is looking to buy a dutch oven.

starsone tough dutch oven
I had this furnace for approximately six months now, and put it by its share of the hard kitchen: the potatoes marinated by torrefaction, veins with slow cooking, wet to roast a whole chicken, you call it. Often the white enamel black will be coated with carmelized the remainders of the marinade before I would be finished. At the beginning, half of I counted that I ruined the pot, but NO that this Dutch furnace looks at always as good as new. Once that my wife forgot the pot and left it on a hot furnace, fading the bottom of enamel. I covered it in a little agent bleaching, left hanging one hour to him, and the perfect seemed thing still. And naturally, it makes cook admirably. I prepared my receipts preferred in this furnace and they come out of better than they made in my old pots of Calphalon. You cannot beat this furnace for meals of a dish, do not braise, and do not roast. I wish that it American be done, but quality seems very good (that is to be said the problem with criticizing the products Chinese-facts. You usually cannot censure their quality control...) Moreover, each furnace is moulded with the hand, a method of construction typically only found in the high cookware at end. In a general way, a perfect addition with your kitchen, and a price cheaper than competition.

starsIf I could only own one pot/pan....
I love this pot/pan/dutch oven. It can do everything! Bakes fantastic crusty bread...sautees vegetables for a cassarole and then goes into the oven to bake, almost a one pot meal! The enamel has such a pleasing feel to it. It cleans easily, even baked on food. It is so versatile. It has inspired my cooking...I am so excited for a host of winter stews etc. In short, a sturdy (and heavy), versatile, aesthetically pleasing cooking vessel. Plus, you don't have to worry about all those non-stick surfaces poisoning you or what have you.

starsCold Weather... Hot Stew !!!
Lightening Fast Shipping & excellent quality. This dutch oven is wonderful and costs MUCH less than the Le Creuset's I was looking at. I just made a big pot of Bigos (Polish Hunter's Stew) and it was spectacular !!!

The Dutch Oven cleaned up so easily and it cooks and looks Fantastic !!!

starsExceptional Item
This is a great dutch oven. It heats evenly, cleans easily, and is big. The only downside is that the thing is pretty heavy, but that is expected with iron.

starsproduct design
This product description indicates "Can be used on gas, electric and ceramic cooktops". I have a ceramic cooktop and need to purchase flat bottom pots/pans as the manufacturer recommends. I had to assume this product was "flat bottom" since description covered this type of cooktop and because there were no photos for the underside(items should be photographed from all angles to assist customers buying online). Would you go into a store to purchase cookware and not turn it over?
This is not a flat bottom pot. When you lay a ruler across the bottom, it does not touch the center as it should per ceramic cooktop manufacturer recommendations. I'm a little upset about that. I still have to test it out and will update later.

12/12/06 I have now had a chance to try out this Dutch Oven. Used it once for Chicken Cacciatore, another time for homemade sauce and meatballs and another time for Chicken Noodle Soup. Each dish came out perfect.

I give this two thumbs up for function and beauty.

starsChili Time!!!
This is one of my favorite cooking dishes. I have recently fallen in love with cast iron cooking, but was dismayed that certain foods would take off the natural coating. This makes cooking with highly acidid foods(lemons, tomatos) possible again and still keep the benefits of cast iron. I cook for my friends all the time and I can make enough chili, gumbo, jumbalaya to feed ten people easlily. Not only does this function well for cooking, but it looks fantastic and costs about half as much as similar products made by la Creuset. This is a must have!

stars"Love that Lodge"
Purchased the 7 quart model some months ago. Used it the day after it arrived. I noticed the pot had a hump in the center of the bottom. The high spot caused a hot spot and lent itself to burning no matter what I tried. I fired off an Email to Lodge, and explained my problem. Their reply was immediate, and said they would supply a UPS mailer so I could return it. (Glad I saved the original carton.) I had no problem with their customer service. My replacement came two weeks later, and this one had a flat bottom. After using it numerous times I've become a "Lodge Fan" I gave it 3 stars based on their quality control. Not on the pot's performance or their customer service which was superb. My inconvenience, and the cost of the replacement could have been avoided if quality assurance had been better. Especially when spending $[...] for this item or any tem of theirs for that matter.

starsVery solid Dutch Oven
I made my first-of-much gombos in the Dutch furnace of cabin today. While this seems with the catch per moment longer to raise to heat against the iron of cast iron inoxidable or dish, it refines once that you arrive there. If russet-red takes usually 2 beers, according to Emeril, this can take 2.5. Or perhaps I must put on jack heat at the initial stages; we will obtain it appeared outside. At all events, a beautiful tool. The white interior makes it easy to make sure that you do not burn the russet-red ones. Moreover, nobody mentioned the buttons stalactitic additional expenses here -- on the lid which encourage the condensation, which facilitates braising/stewing. Marquetries inoxidables of Nice on the handles. A paid attention of cabin to the details here; it is an end investment of lifetime. When you add because it is 100 approximately less than the version frenchified, it is no-brainer from where I come. It is the best value entering the cookware enamels of cast iron.

starsExcellent Pot
I'm completely happy with this pot. It heats evenly; retains the heat well; the enamel surface is easily cleaned; I've had no scratching or chipping; and with the handle being metal, it is oven safe to a higher temp than Le Crueset. If I bought another, I'd stay with the Lodge.

starslodge enamel 7 qt dutch oven
I like the furnace, it well am made, evaluated well, nice and heavy thus it really maintained heat. Excel produces.

starsGreat Dutch Oven!
Well, some of the others criticize filtered this pot (LOL) to be manufactured in China. I am happy that they all have enough money to buy the French furnaces but I not and honestly, for the money (more than half of the prices) that it is an impressive Dutch furnace. It is ENORMOUS thus I can make very that I need a Dutch furnace for inside a pot. It is made well and it is beautiful - I hate to put it far! The only bad one of thing that I can say about it is that it is little heavy so that my wife raises. It makes to me obtain it outside all the times that it needs him. We will probably add the 5 quarters later right thus it can employ it more easily.

starsGives Le Creuset a run for it's money
I've always wanted a Le Creuset Dutch oven for a long time, but they are just too expensive. I like my Lodge cast iron pan a lot so I decided give their enamel Dutch oven a shot. I was impressed the moment I opened the box. It looks and feels like a Le Creuset. I have used it for 2 slow-cooking dishes and it performed flawlessly. Nothing stuck to the inside or outside of the oven. When wearing oven mitts, I also like the handle more than that of Le Creuset.

starsExcellent Dutch Oven
The Dutch furnace of cabin is excellent produced, in particular for the price. It is comparable with LeCreuset, but with half of the cost (...). thus... if you do not occupy yourselves of blue, it is a large pot with a great value.

starsAmazing piece of cookware.
This Dutch furnace is simply large. It is heavy, beautiful, and of the cooks like a dream. The handle is really ordered, too. The quality of the pan is top-notch. It makes cook well and cleans with the facility (...) that the pan seems to be manufactured in China according to characteristics' of the cabin. It is clearly a pan of cabin with their name engraved on the handles. It does not worry me in less, but if it is something which worries you that better chance. For me, I found a pan which will be in my kitchen for the remainder of my life.

starsSO disappointed...!!!
I reversed when I saw a cook on food digging drains using this pot; it IS to look at fabulous. Then I learned that he is cheap Chinese strike-with far from my French cookware liked iron of cast iron. I am happy I remained with the Crucible! ! ! At least the French are free to compete with us. Shame on you, cabin! I will continue to buy the good American old man skillet of cast iron iron (I have the skillet cabin of my grandmother), but you can keep your refuse of make-in-China! Update: the American work of manufacture of wonder does not disappear. If you buy these pans but cannot find a good work, look in the mirror.

starsWow! What a beautiful pan!
I was astonished when I opened the box that this product is so attractive like a model of luxury in the crockery of kitchen. I really did much thought before choosing the pan of cabin above the mark competetors. Was not only the fantastic price but quality is there I was informed of the processes enamaling implied by making the pans and places hands of victories downwards. While making cook, take care and leave the pan come at the temperature (which takes one moment but low with formed heat employed more than compensates for it). It will be our preferred pan so that the generations come!

starsThis is not domestic cast iron. (edited)
Lodge is trying to sneak in Imported items and trade on the Lodge name.

Yes, I own the pot. I give it a technical rating of 3 of 5: sufficient but not impressed. The competing Le Creuset 6-3/4-Quart Oval model performs better, and is the oven in my kitchen instead of the garage. The Lodge oven falls short of expectations in the areas of heating evenness(less than LC), lid handle design (metal, hot), pot handle size (too small, uncomfortable shape).

When offered colors include "patriot red" and "liberty white", it seems pertinent to point out that this was built by exploited foreign workers while trading on patriotic brand recognition.

Moreover, Lodge's foreign suppliers have not provided me the same high quality that Lodge used to. This lack of integrity loses the product another star. I'll look elsewhere in the future.

starsLodge Enamel "Made in China"
I received my beautiful Lodge Enamel 7 quart pot a few weeks ago and it performs and looks beautiful.

My only complaint is the "Made in China" label on the box. Lodge prides itself as being the only cast iron maker in the US, and now makes it's highest priced enamel line in China!! That alone is worth at least a one star reduction.

I am now revising my review. After over a years use, the enamel finish still looks almost like new. I'm now a firm believer in the Lodge Dutch Oven.

Recently I was frying shrimp an mistakenly left the burner on and smoked the pan. I checked the temp and it was over 500 degrees. I thought sure it would be warped and the enamel finish toast. After cooling it down gradually, amazingly it was still flat and the enamel finish unharmed. This is a great product and Amazon has the best price anywhere to be found.

starsLodge Enamel 7-Quart
My wife says good job; she loves the product and will probably order other sizes. Please advise of any sale prices on these articles. Thank you.
Jim Treme

starsBest value
This piece looks and cooks like a dream. Quick boil, slow simmer, very easy clean up. Dollar for dollar the best buy on the market. If Lodge gave us more size options Le Cruset would need to rethink their prices.
